Two days ago I had a great urge to practice traditional inking (guess I've been reading too much manga hhaha). As it turned out, my old ink (which was not very high quality anyway) had become a diluted, mucky shade of grey, no matter how much I stirred it. With only 20 minutes left until the shops would close, I ran out through the rain to the nearby art shop and bought myself a nice flask of pure-black ink! And it works fantastic! I almost forgot what fun inking is! All of these are based on sketches I made in my sketchbook in the period I was in Leicester and later. We have Millie in the top left corner, running away with a half-eaten biscuit. Then, 3 drawings of my newest character Tobikuma the tanuki (raccoon dog). Various expressions and poses to figure him out
He's rarely really angry or defensive as on this portrait, but it's good to reach the limits now and then. He's usually a rather cheerful guy
Madeleine up right does not really seem like her normal self either, she looks very sarcastic, or even slightly mad. I liked the sketch a lot and her spots seemed like fun to ink so there we are. Esben in the lower right corner is drawn more realistically, like a real beech marten. The eyes are not quite marteny though, they give him away. And then finally there's the deer-like guy in the middle (deer, mouse, dog??? I don't know
). He belongs to the same world as Elias, William and Maloki do (the anthropomorphic hybrid animals in renaissance-ish style thing haha). Doesn't have a name, profession, or even a set design yet. I just really like his face... That's as far as it usually goes when I draw him, haha. He does have quite dark grey fur, black hair and lighter grey (either blueish or beige, not sure yet) on his face. hmm hmm.
Ink is so much fun!! Will do more
