Another finished commission, this time for
of her character Lerato the lion as a cub! He too is made with %100 synthetic fabrics. He has little paw pads made of faux-suede. This is the first time I used two different colours on the nose, inspired by the old Steiff bears, and I really, really like it!
I will do that more often. This was also the first time I painted on lighter markings with acrylic paints. After some experiments on scrap fur I now know how to apply the paint without making the fabric coarse/clumped together. The higher the contrast, the better it works, though.
Lerato here is approximately 6 inches long from head to butt, and this is the smallest I can go with this pattern without destroying the fabrics during turning (that was hell :/). I might be able to make it just a tad smaller if the paws are without paw pads or other sewn in markings...
He is stuffed softly, to allow a bit of 'floppyness'. However, these fabrics are much, much thicker and therefore less flexible than, say, minky or fleece, and so are not very suited for really floppy plushies, unless they are big. But the plushie is still pretty flexible, so I think it did work out in the end.
Commissions are absolutely open!
